Paintings by Will Felix

Will Felix was born in Brooklyn, NY in the eventful summer of 1969. Coming from a lower-income Caribbean immigrant family, the idea of an art career was not welcomed. After quitting out of architecture, he chose to go into graphic design, which offered a means of making a living, but took him away from fine art. Recovering from a serious bout with depression in 1998, it was clear to him that painting was an important part of his recovery, as well as a life vocation.

The paintings are works of organic abstraction; a means of interpreting life beyond representative means, encouraging new definitions. The strong use of color and brush are meant to challenge the logotype way of reading art that prevails our society.

Will’s art career developed in Orlando, FL, where his work has been on display in several venues, including the Orlando Museum of Art and City Hall. Subsequent moves to New York City in 2000 and Akron, OH in 2004 have provided varied influences and venues for his career.
