Apollonova, one of Akron's fastest growing Artists Collectives, is celebrating all art forms with a festival at Mocha Maiden, beginning Saturday July 21 st at 7:00pm.

The festival will showcase local musicians, poets, painters, photographers, dancers, actors, chefs and comedians.

The opening night extravaganza will have a cover charge of $7 and will feature local artists painting along side local bands, including Chitlin, User Sets Mode, If These Trees Could Talk, Zach and Trayah Fyah & Umajah Nation.

Monday 23rd (Sunday is closed due to private party) will showcase verbal arts, spoken word-jam, one-act plays by Bang and Clatter, improvisation and poetry reading.

Tuesday 24 th features the palette tempting Culinary Arts with wine-tasting and fancy finger foods. This night will also feature an art auction of works by Akron area artists.

Wednesday 25 th is all about the Art of Play. Open Mic Jam hosted by Ryen Beke and Joe Golden, circus performers, costuming, face & body painting too!

Thursday 26 th the final night of the festival will display local talents in the Digital Arts, including photography, short films and projection art.

Throughout the entire Apollonova Arts Festival, artwork from Apollonova artists as well as other local artists will be on display, with some available to purchase and some pieces up for auction on designated nights.

The cover charge Monday through Thursday is $3, if you retain your ticket stub, you can get in for free for any evenings that you return!

Mocha Maiden is located in Akron's Historic District, near the corner of High and Market at 17 Maiden Lane.

Bernadette Glorioso and Ursula Rauh added to the Artists page!

The VIS1ON ONE show will open at the Doubting Thomas Gallery in Tremont on May 11! Opening party is from 6pm - 10pm (officially), but we'll be around most of the night. There will be food, refreshments, an interactive art project, and a live DJ, as well as dozens of works from nine different Apollonova artists.

The Doubting Thomas Gallery is at 856 Jefferson St. in Tremont. From Akron, just take 77 North to 490 West. Exit at W. 7th St. (Exit 1B - the first exit). Turn Right on W. 7th, then Left on Jefferson. Real easy to get there.

Here is our May schedule:

Friday, May 4 - Soft Open from 3pm - 9pm. This is a test-run for ourselves and a few media invites. NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Sunday, May 6 - Live Art Demo at Nervous Dog 6pm - 8pm.

Unofficial after-party at the Lava Lounge starting around 10pm.

Live Demos

The Nervous Dog Coffee Bar event was a grand success! We packed the house and created two wonderful pieces of art. One of them is on permanent display at the Nervous Dog. The owner has invited us back, we just have to settle on the next date. We hope to make this a regular, monthly event.

We have another Live Demo at the Nervous Dog on May 6th. They're also donating coffee for some of our events at the Doubting Thomas Gallery!

Apollonova performed live art demonstrations at a few young professionals' events in November. We start with a blank canvas and create two original works during the event, usually in two hours or less. Three artists collaborate, and the overlap of styles has created some tremendous work. APOLLONOVA PROJECTS

Almost every month, Apollonova artists participate in a creative project. It's just an idea and a style, and you have to create something within the project parameters within the month.

The "theme" part is left open to interpretation. Let your imagination run wild! The style part is usually just a formal element, a frame for your creative process.
